Matrix blinds you from the truth...
ประโยคเด็ดจากหนังเรื่องเดอะแมทริกซ์ กลับมากระแทกใจอีกครั้ง หลังห่มผ้าเหลือง
หลังจากเข้ามาห่มผ้าย้อมน้ำฝาดได้สองปีกว่า รู้สึกว่า โลกทัศน์เปลี่ยนไป ไม่เว้นแม้กระทั่งการดูภาพยนตร์ ถ้าเป็นฆราวาส ประโยคเด็ด คงเป็นประโยคอื่น
This phrase hit me again after I have become a monk. After 2 years of my monkhood, I realised that my vision had changed greatly, even in terms of watching movies. If I still were a layman, my favourite movie phrase might be something else.
ประโยคดังกล่าวแปลว่า "แมทริกซ์ซ่อนคุณจากความจริง" หรือ "แมทริกซ์ทำให้คุณไม่สามารถเห็นความจริง" ชวนให้คิดถึงหลักธรรมในศาสนาพุทธซึ่งสามารถนำมาประยุกต์ได้ว่า "อวิชชาซ่อนคุณจากความจริง" หรือ "อวิชชาปิดกั้นคุณจากความจริง"
That “Matrix blinds you from the truth” reminds me of dharmic principle that could also be implied that “nescience (avijja) blinds you from the truth”.
ภาพยนตร์ดังกล่าว เล่าถึงชีวิตคนในอนาคต ที่ถูกเสียบปลั๊ก (plugins) เข้ากับระบบที่เรียกว่า แมทริกซ์ แล้วเข้าไปใช้ชีวิตในโลกเสมือน ตั้งแต่เกิด จนตาย โดยไม่รู้เลยว่า ตัวเองอยู่ในโลกเสมือน เพียงเพื่อเป้าหมายแท้จริงของระบบ คือ เป็นแหล่งพลังงานให้กับแมทริกซ์
The matrix tells story of people who are plugged in to the matrix system, living in virtual world, believing it’s real. Until their deaths, no one realised that their real bodies have been used as energy source for the system.

I was thinking to write about this for a while, but couldn’t find the right description to it until Mr. Nora recommended me and article about Descartes’s concept of “I think therefore I am”, which suits the main idea of this movie very well.
เคยได้ยินมานานแล้ว ครับ ตั้งแต่สมัยเด็ก ๆ แต่ไม่รู้ชื่อของนักปรัชญา มาได้รู้อย่างเป็นทางการในเอ็นทรี่นั้นว่ื่าชื่อ 「เรอเน เดส์การ์ตส์ (René Descartes)」 ที่คิดเรื่องการที่สัมผัสทั้งห้าของคนเรา (การมองเห็น/ตา, การได้ยิน/หู, การได้กลิ่น/จมูก, การรู้รส/ลิ้น, การสัมผัส/กาย) เชื่อถือได้หรือไม่ หากเชื่อถือไม่ได้ สิ่งที่เราเห็น หรือจับต้องได้ ก็ไม่ได้มีอยู่จริง
This phrase is nothing new to me, but I didn’t know that the philosopher’s name was René Descartes, who thought about whether our 5 basic senses is trustworthy. If not, all the things we have sensed, might not exist.

Is it possible that all the senses also blinds us from the truth. Now that we are looking at a monitor, does that monitor exist? If we touch it, we would feel it with our hands, we see it with our eyes. But if our senses fool us, then we have no prove of its existence.
ในเรื่องแมทริกซ์ ก็กล่าวถึง การไม่มีอยู่จริงของวัตถุธาตุ ในแง่ของ การหลุดเข้าไปอยู่ในโลกเสมือน "ความเชื่อ" ทำให้สิ่งนั้น มีอยู่จริงในโลกเสมือน "ความเชื่อ" เกิดจากการที่คนเราถูกประสาทสัมผัสทั้งห้า หลอกเอาว่า วัตถุธาตุ เป็นอย่างนั้นอย่างนี้ ตอนท้ายของเรื่อง นีโอ เกิดตาบอด หรือ เรียกว่า เสียจักษุประสาท ทางศาสนาพุทธเรียกว่า จักขุวิญญาณ ไป ต้องรับรู้แมทริกซ์ด้วยใจ ทำให้เห็นภาพที่แตกต่างออกไป (ในหนังเห็นเป็นภาพของแสง)
The movie talks about nonexistence of all substances in the way that the virtual world we live in make us “believe” they are real through our senses. In the end that the main character NEO lost his sight, he learned to use his heart instead of his eyes, thus making him perceive the world differently. (The movies demonstrate his vision as light).
แนวคิดเช่นนี้ อาจใช้อธิบายหลักการของอภิญญาสมาบัติว่า ผู้ที่ได้อภิญญา รับรู้โลกแตกต่างจากคนธรรมดา คนธรรมดาเห็นจอคอมฯ เป็นจอคอมฯ แต่ผู้ที่ได้อภิญญา เห็นจอคอมฯ เป็นธาตุดิน!!!
This thought could be used to explain that the person with higher psychic powers (Apinyasamabutta : in Thai) perceive things different from other people. We might see the computer screen and it is, but those ones might perceive this as a kind of solid element!!!
และนีโอ คือ ผู้ที่ได้อภิญญาสมาบัติ จึงสามารถทำสิ่งที่คนทั่วไป เห็นเป็นเรื่องอัศจรรย์ได้ เพียงแค่จิตของนีโอ เลิกเชื่อสิ่งที่เห็น ได้ยิน ได้กลิ่น รู้รส และสัมผัส จิตรับรู้สิ่งต่าง ๆ ในมุมที่ต่างออกไป
According to the movie, NEO might represent the supernormal power people (Apinyasamabutta) who could do super natural things we thought extraordinary, for his mind had stopped believing in those senses.
อย่าเพิ่งเชื่อ ครับ เพราะข้าพเจ้่าก็มิได้มีอภิญญาสมาบัติ แค่ความคิดฟุ้งซ่านเพ้อเจ้อเท่านั้น
Well.. please don’t believe this just yet, as I, the imagineer, has none of those powers. This is just my thought.
ย้อนมาดูประโยคเด็ดที่ว่า Matrix blinds you from the truth. พระพุทธเจ้าค้นพบมานานเนนักหนาแล้ว ครับ มีบางสิ่งบางอย่างปิดกั้นเราจากการรับรู้ความจริงของโลก สิ่งที่พระองค์ตรัสรู้ มิได้กระจอกงอกง่อย ผิวเผินเพียงแค่นี้ด้วยซ้ำ แต่ลึกซึ้งกว่านี้มากมาย สิ่งที่เหล่านักคิด หรือนักปรัชญา เข้าไปรับรู้ เป็นเพียงขั้นตอนเดียว จากสิ่งที่พระพุทธเจ้าทรงแสดงไว้ถึง สิบเอ็ดขั้นตอนการเกิดทุกข์ ที่เรียกเป็นภาษาบาลีน่าปวดหัวว่า "ปฏิจฺจสมุปฺบาท"
That “Matrix blinds us from the truth”, the Lord Buddha had taught about this a many thousand years ago. There is really something that blinds us. What he had taught is even a lot more profound than the Matrix philosophy which is just a very few first basics. The teaching is called “the Dependent Origination” or “patija samupata”. It explained the 11 steps of things that cause sufferings. While other philosophers had just started to realise the relationship of their causes and effects, Buddha also taught how to end them.
และตอกย้ำความเป็นเลิศในสกลจักรวาล ด้วยวิธีดับทุกข์ หรือวิธีการหักสายปฏิจฺจสมุปฺบาท ด้วยการเจริญสติปัฏฐาน ขณะที่เหล่านักปรัชญา หรือนักคิด ทำได้แค่เพียง รับรู้ คิด พิสูจน์ว่า สิ่งนั้น สิ่งนี้ มีอยู่จริง เป็นเหตุเป็นผลกัน
เหล่านักคิดทั้งหลายในโลก ก็คิดจินตนาการกันไป ครับ ให้ดูแอ๊ดว๊านซ์ ซับซ้อน ซ่อนเงื่อน ใช้ถ้อยคำสวยหรู แต่ไม่มีใครพ้นทุกข์สักคน เพราะเขาทั้งหลาย ยังวนเวียนอยู่กับการใช้ความคิด และศักยภาพของสมองมนุษย์ก็มีข้อจำกัดมากมาย
While these famous thinkers continued to think in more and more advance levels, making things more and more complicated, none have been freed from sufferings as they kept thinking within human brain limitation.
ทว่าเพียงแค่สิ่งเล็กน้อยในปฏิจฺจสมุปฺบาท นำมาอธิบายเชิงวิทยาศาสตร์ คนก็ตื่นเต้น วี๊ดว้าย กระตู้วู้ว่า ช่างเป็นปรัชญาที่เลอเลิศในปฐพี คนที่คิดได้ช่างเก่งกาจสามารถ คนที่รู้ตามได้ก็ฉกาจไม่ยิ่งหย่อน นั่นเป็นเพราะการรับรู้บางส่วนของปฏิจฺจสมุปฺบาท เป็นสิ่งที่ไม่เกินวิสัยศักยภาพสมองของมนุษย์ ครับ แต่การรู้ปฏิจฺจสมุปฺบาทตลอดสาย เป็นสิ่งที่ล่วงวิสัยมนุษย์ปุถุชนคนธรรมดา ทำให้ศาสนาพุทธไม่ได้รับความสนใจยอมรับเท่าที่ควร คนหันไปให้ความสำคัญกับสิ่งที่สามารถเข้าใจได้ด้วยการคิด
เลิกคิดต่างหาก จึงจะเกิดปัญญา เลิกคิดต่างหาก จึงจะเข้าถึงความจริง
Just stop thinking, the truth will reveal itself.
หากคนเราหลุดพ้นได้ด้วยความคิด ด้วยการเข้าใจหลักปรัชญา โลกนี้คงเต็มไปด้วยพระอรหันต์ เดินกันขวักไขว่ มิต้องรอถึง ๑ พุทธันดร จึงมีพระพุทธเจ้าอุบัติขึ้นหนึ่งพระองค์หรอก ครับ
If sufferings could be ended by thinking or understanding some philosophies, then this world must have been full of the enlighten people walking on the street. No need to wait for one Buddha-interval (the period between the appearance of one Buddha and the next : very long long time), to have a new Buddha.
ยังมีคนอีกมากมาย ครับ ที่คิดว่า ศาสนา เป็นเรื่องของการ "ทำใจ" ให้ใช้ชีวิตอย่างมีความสุข บ้างคิดว่า เป็นเรื่องของการยำเกรงสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ คนเหล่านี้บ้างอ้างว่า เขามิได้นับถือศาสนาใด หรืออีกนัยหนึ่ง เขานับถือตัวเอง มากกว่าสิ่งใดในจักรวาล บ้างคิดว่า คนเราเป็นสุขเพราะได้คิด ความคิดพาให้เพลิดเพลิน
There are many out there who have a misconception that religion is just something to soothe their minds, making them live their lives happily. Some thought religion is all about believing supernatural powers. Some claims they have no religion, which in a way means they only respect themselves more than anything. Some has a misconception that thinking would make them happy.
ในแง่ศาสนาพุทธ คนเราทุกข์ เพราะความคิด ครับ
But in Buddhism, thinking leads to sufferings.
มียืนยันในบทสวดมนต์ด้วยว่า "สัพเพ สังขารา ทุกขา" แปลว่า ความคิดปรุงแต่งทั้งหลาย (สังขารทั้งหลาย) เป็นทุกข์ แต่คนเหล่านั้น รู้สึกเป็นสุขที่ได้คิด ก็เพราะเขาไม่รู้ว่า สิ่งที่เขาคิดว่า เป็นสุข แท้จริง คือ ความทุกข์ที่ละเอียดขึ้น
ข้าพเจ้ามิได้อยากจะยัดเยียดความเชื่อกระไรให้คนเหล่านั้น เพียงอยากท้าว่า "เอหิปัสสิโก" จงเข้ามาดูสิ ศึกษาสิ อย่าคิดแต่ว่า ศาสนาพุทธเป็นอย่างนั้นอย่างนี้ แล้วก็ทึกทักเอาว่าเป็นอย่างที่ตนคิด
I have no intention to push all these concept into anyone’s head. But I would like to challenge them to come and see or study what the Lord Buddha said instead of assuming the Buddha will be like this and that.
เนื้อหาในเอ็นทรี่นั้น กล่าวอีกว่า คนเรามีอยู่ เพราะความคิด หรือเพราะเราคิด เราจึงมีอยู่
Descartes said “I think therefore I am”.
ในแง่ศาสนาพุทธ เรามีอยู่ตลอดกาล เพราะเราคือจิต ครับ เรา หรือจิต มาเสียบปลั๊ก (plugins) เข้ากับ รูปในขันธ์ห้า หรือ ร่างกายเรานี่แหละ จึงกลายเป็นคนขึ้นมา ร่างกายของเรานี่แหละ ที่เป็นแมทริกซ์
But in Buddhism, there is the concept of oneself eternally exists as oneself is one’s mind. We plugged our minds to our bodies and became human. This is why our body is part of the matrix.
เอาละ เนื่องจากเรื่องนี้ ค่อนข้างหนักกระโหลก ขออารัมภบทไว้แต่เพียงเท่านี้ก่อน ตอนหน้า จักมาสาธยายให้ลึกซึ้งยิ่งขึ้น
